Tactical urbanism as a landscape strategy: turning streets into social spaces in Jalan Maharani In Teluk Intan

Tactical Urbanism has emerged as a transformative Landscape Architecture strategy, emphasizing small-scale, low-cost, and short-term interventions to reimagine underutilized urban areas. This study explores the application of tactical strategies to transform vehicle-dominated Streetscape Design into vibrant Social Spaces that prioritize human interaction over transit efficiency. By utilizing modular elements such as pop-up parks, temporary seating, and creative surface treatments, this approach allows for the immediate activation of streets while serving as a testing ground for long-term urban evolution. The research evaluates how these agile interventions can bypass traditional bureaucratic delays to foster inclusivity and a sense of belonging among diverse user groups. Ultimately, this study demonstrates that Urban Design centered on flexible, community-led transformations can successfully turn rigid infrastructure into resilient public realms that enhance the quality of urban life.
