Report on industrial training at Lembaga Kemajuan Perhutanan Sabah (SAFODA) Kg Lumat Beaufort Sabah

This report represent our practical training on SAFODA Lumat, Beaufort SABAH that takes 14 weeks to be completed which start on 10 June 2013 and ended on 13 September 2013. Based on information that we gained from the agency during our practical we can conclude that the area of SAFODA estate is 1613.8 ha and can be divided into 3 division which is nursery, source bush and fields. In nursery area, the activities involve is planting using seeds. After that followed by budding, watering, manuring, pruning and weeding then the budded plant can be transplanting. In source bush area. The maintenance that include in the source bush is planting, weeding or herbicide spraying, manuring and cut back of the stem or also called as harvesting of the bud stick whic use in budding process. The last one is in the field area. The activities involve are divided into three major part, before planting, while planting and after planting. The activities before planting is road construction, site preparation that consist of four major part (under brushing, felling, mechanical clearing & stacking and terracing). While planting, lining and poling,seedling transpotation, holing, manuring and planting. After planting the maintenance that involve is manuring or fertilizing, weeding/slashing/ herbicide spraying, pruning, census, pest and disease control and harvesting.
