OSCE 2026: assessing tomorrow's pharmacists today, assessments with the course PHC635, PHC690, PHC692

This article evaluates the implementation and educational outcomes of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) 2026 for pharmacy undergraduates enrolled in advanced clinical practice courses—PHC635 (Introduction to Clinical Pharmacy), PHC690 (Applied Therapeutics in Neurology, Immunology, Musculoskeletal System and Psychiatric Disorders), and PHC692 (Applied Therapeutics in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Disorders)—at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Designed to assess students' clinical decision-making, patient history taking, pharmaceutical care planning, and professional communication skills, the multi-station examination mirrors real-world clinical and ethical challenges encountered in patient care settings. By evaluating student performance across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains in simulated healthcare environments, the assessment provides essential benchmarks for clinical competence prior to Provisional Registered Pharmacist (PRP) training. The findings demonstrate that multi-course integrated OSCEs serve as a vital outcome-based assessment tool, reinforcing patient-centered care and aligning academic instruction with professional pharmaceutical standards.
