A study on waqf contribution in maximizing public welfare at Majlis Agama Islam Dan Adat Melayu Terengganu (MAIDAM)

MAIDAM or Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Melayu Terengganu is a government body which responsible to coordinate and manage all matter relate to Muslim economy. One of the service offers by MAIDAM is Waqf scheme. The Waqf scheme offer by MAIDAM is who responsible to coordinate and manage all matter relate to Muslim towards property. The acceptance of people towards this scheme is moderately good. Thus, it is interesting to identify another factors contribute towards waqf contribution in maximizing public welfare and this scheme offer by MAIDAM. So, the researcher select a topic of the factors contribute towards the waqf contribution in maximizing the public welfare at MAIDAM. 100 sets of questionnaires had been distributed to the staff and non staff at MAIDAM. Besides, the researcher also made own observations and interviews with the staff and non staff as well as MAIDAM officers itself in order to obtain more information and knowledge regarding this issue. The finding reveals that social is the major factor contributes towards the waqf contribution in maximizing public welfare at MAIDAM. It shows that they are almost absolutely satisfied with the social contribution which involves a best waqf scheme that provided and more contribute towards the people welfare. The other factors which include in this study which are economic and poverty eradication also significantly and positively contribute towards maximizing people welfare MAIDAM.
