Research collaboration meeting between Xin Sheng Environmental (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)

On 7 May 2026, a Research Collaboration Meeting between Xin Sheng Environmental (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) through the UiTM Research Nexus Network (ReNeU) was held at UiTM Shah Alam. The meeting brought together representatives from UiTM, including Professor Ts. Dr. Asmah Awal, Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Noor Fitrah Abu Bakar, Director of the Institute of Science (loS), and members of the Research Interest Group (RIG), alongside Mr. Abu Bakar Osman, Business Development Director of Xin Sheng Environmental (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. Discussions focused on addressing scheduled waste generated from zinc production processes, particularly Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) dust from steel manufacturing. The industry partner expressed interest in exploring innovative approaches to convert this industrial waste into value-added products. Potential research collaboration opportunities were identified between Xin Sheng Environmental, loS, and the Hybrid Nanomaterials, Interfaces & Simulation (HYMFAST) Research Group in the areas of waste management and valorisation of zinc oxide (ZnO) production by-products.
