AR Putra: virtual tourism experiences through augmented reality

Tourism is rapidly becoming one of the focused sectors that greatly contributes to a country's economy. In conjunction of pandemic that have led to a dramatic fall in our country's economy, tourism affected more. AR PUTRA can help promoting the tourism industry to local and foreign tourists by utilizing the advancement in Augmented Reality (AR) technology specifically in Perlis in conjunction of “Visit PERLIS (TMP) 2024 – 2025” and responding to “Perlis GO DIGITAL”. AR features are built with a combination of multimedia elements to enhance user experience in exploring tourism places of interest using AR technology. It was developed using platform called MyWebAR platform by DEVAR to blend the physical world and the digital world. It is a cloud-based platform that allows users to create and share AR experiences through QR codes. Features included in the platform are information displayed on places of interest, video and audio tour, directions to the location, and surrounding attractions. This project gives a hand to tourists to explore Perlis's beauty in a convenient way. The presence of AR paves the way for more interactive and user-prioritized environments for tourists.
