Ancient mosques are religious structures that convey a sense of sacredness through architectural features shaped by local culture. However, changes in the meaning and physical appearance of these buildings often result in a loss of authenticity and symbolic significance, thereby obscuring the mosque's sacredness. This research is important in revealing and reintroducing how the architectural elements of mosques maintain their sense of sacredness. This study focuses on the Tgk Di Pucok Krueng Mosque in Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh, which has stood since the 16th century AD, using descriptive qualitative methods and Douglas R. Hoffman's architectural theory approach as a basic understanding of the sacredness of space through architectural elements. The research was conducted qualitatively through observation and documentation, gradually forming the impression of sacredness from profane space to sacred space. The results of the study indicate that while the exterior elements of the mosque do not fully contribute to creating a sense of sacredness, the interior elements do. The physical form and objects that support spiritual activities reinforce sacredness through their historical value, shaped by the local community's beliefs. This research demonstrates that exterior and interior architectural elements play an important role in shaping and maintaining sacred spaces in ancient mosques, as well as in representing the local identity and spirituality of the community.
