Schlumberger (SLB)

My internship with SLB was a profound Learning experience that expanded my understanding of company operations while also improving my analytical, technical, and professional skills. As a member of the Governance, Risk, and Control (GRC) Department under the Continuous Control Monitoring (CCM) division, I was involved in activities that supported SLB's global governance framework and financial assurance duties. During my six-month placement, I received guidance and oversight from Mr. Hasan on tasks including revenue recognition back-testing, data validation, compliance reporting, and internal control monitoring. These responsibilities required precision, critical thinking, and adherence to established procedures, which helped me understand the importance of accuracy and accountability in financial reporting. This internship also allowed me to get a knowledge of how international organizations maintain governance integrity through systematic procedures, cross-functional collaboration, and risk-management measures. I increased my communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in managing real-world corporate obligations by using my academic knowledge in a real- world business situation. Learning about SLB's compliance culture and global standards provided me with valuable insights into how governance frameworks work in high-performance, complex organizations. This research does a comprehensive SWOT analysis of SLB, examining its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats from both departmental and organizational perspectives. It also covers the primary responsibilities, initiatives, and skills I acquired throughout my internship.
