This industrial training report documents the six-month internship which I completed at Infineon Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. in Melaka from 22 September 2025 until 6 March 2026 under the Human Resources Department Employee Relations (ER) Team. The multinational semiconductor manufacturing company Infineon Malaysia operates as one of Melaka’s largest employers while maintaining global standards for quality and safety and environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance. The internship program intended to create connections between academic learning and actual Human Resource work within Employee Relations through practical experience in a large high- technology manufacturing facility. The internship provided comprehensive training exposure in core Employee Relations operations which covered all aspects of handling misconduct cases and creating Show Cause Letters and Disciplinary Action documents and tracking Time-to-Close KPIs and taking part in Domestic Inquiry (DI) proceedings and working with Jabatan Perhubungan Perusahaan (JPP) on Medical Board-Out (MOB) cases. My work included leading weekly employee induction sessions together with supporting welfare and engagement programs and my participation in HR audits and my assistance with cross-departmental operations and my work on system testing for the new Employee Misconduct Management (EMM) platform. The experiences I gained taught me that HR functions as both an administrative support unit and a strategic partner, which helps organizations maintain employee relations and compliance while ensuring operational stability. The report also presents a SWOT analysis of the HR function at Infineon Melaka. The HR function at Infineon Melaka displays its key strengths through its established HR framework which enables it to manage extensive manufacturing operations and through its complete adherence to Malaysian labor regulations and its internal procedures. The system shows two main weaknesses because it depends on manual and semi-digital HR operations and because it lacks effective communication channels between different time shifts and between various departments. The organization has three main opportunities which include bettering its HR digitalization efforts and creating stronger ties with educational institutions and developing programs to boost employee satisfaction and work-life balance. The semiconductor industry currently faces two main threats which stem from constant changes in employment regulations and rising employee turnover rates and difficulties in employee retention. Based on these findings, the report recommend strengthening the existing HR Business Partner structure through better integration and digital development while implementing a complete digital HR system across all HR operations and creating improved communication channels and establishing permanent policy education systems and building more effective employee retention systems. The recommendations seek to enhance HR operational efficiency together with compliance management and employee contentment and foundation workforce sustainability. The industrial training programme delivered essential career development opportunities while it improved practical HR skills and equipped the intern for future work in Human Resource Management especially in the Employee Relations department of international corporations.
