Mountain Resort Homes

UiTM Shah Alam, College of Built Environment (2024) Mountain Resort Homes. Bulletin. College of Built Environment, Shah Alam.

Abstract

This project, Mountain Resort Homes, responds directly to the challenging topography of the tropical highlands. The architecture is conceptualized as a low-impact structure that hovers above the natural steep contours, utterly eliminating harmful cut-and-fill site operations. By utilizing a hybrid tectonic system—where a heavy stone base anchors into the slope while a lightweight timber and steel frame extends toward the canopy—the design balances structural integrity with structural lightness. Every unit is orientated bioclimatically to capture panoramic valley views, optimize passive solar heating for cold highland nights, and deflect harsh high-altitude wind loads. Through this integration, Mountain Resort Homes celebrates a harmonious living experience that transitions seamlessly from architectural luxury to the raw, untamed mountain landscape.
