Majlis Perbandaran Batu Pahat

Majlis Perbandaran Batu Pahat (MPBP) is one of the local government units in Johor State. Established on 1912 as a Lembaga Perbandaran. On 2001, it officially acquired its city status, replacing the former Majlis Daerah Batu Pahat Barat (MDBPB). This transformation was a major milestone for Batu Pahat: It illustrates its evolution from a small district council to rapidly expanding urban community. MPBP is the front-line for both local government administration and city development work. It also manages infrastructure and community welfare. At the moment, MPBP is responsible for the administrative region of Batu Pahat town as well as its neighboring areas of Sri Gading, Parit Raja, Simpang Kanan and Simpang Kiri. The Batu Pahat district, located at the heart of Johor, is a main area for commerce, education, and exploitation. It is well known for its small and medium industrial enterprises, its higher education institutions and various types of local tourism sites; all of these areas contribute to the economy of Johor. For MPBP, the realization of its core city operation responsibilities is vital. It carries out waste collection and disposal, health and environmental sanitation utilitiy services, road construction and maintenance, and provides community utilities and services. MPBP, as a local government, works in line with the Local Government Act of 1976 ( Act 171 ). It serves as the liaison between the state government and the people. Under the Pelan Strategik 2021-2025. The council is targeting improvement in both service delivery and adopting smart city technologies; it is also engaged with meaningful environmental initiatives and aspires to enhance the public’s quality of life in Batu Pahat. MPBP continues to strengthen its own administration to deliver A smart, sustainable and prosperous city by 2025. This also means it is committed to balanced governance for community, environment and economy.
