Abstract
This article documents the implementation of a Community Health Education Programme led by the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Selangor Branch, Sungai Buloh Campus. The programme, which aimed to enhance public health literacy, was held on 14 October 2025 at Surau Al-Ikhwan, Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh, and involved the participation of 64 local residents. The primary focus of this community service initiative was to raise awareness and provide education on non-communicable diseases, particularly the management of hypertension (high blood pressure) and the proper and safe use of antihypertensive medications. Throughout the programme, participants engaged in a variety of interactive activities, including health talks, quiz sessions, and pre- and post-programme knowledge assessments that addressed the symptoms and complications of hypertension, the importance of medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications for disease management. This practical knowledge-transfer initiative reflects UiTM’s ongoing commitment to empowering community well-being and fostering a socially responsible society that is proactive in managing personal health.
