Decent work and economic growth: why it matters

UiTM, Faculty of Civil Engineering (2025) Decent work and economic growth: why it matters. Bulletin. Faculty of Civil Engineering, Shah Alam.

Abstract

Sustained and inclusive economic growth is essential for driving progress, creating decent jobs for all, and improving global living standards. This paper examines the critical importance of fostering environments that stimulate economic productivity while ensuring fair wages, workplace safety, and equal opportunities in the labor market. It highlights how high unemployment and precarious employment conditions hinder societal development and widen wealth gaps. By promoting sustainable industrial growth, supporting entrepreneurship, and protecting labor rights, nations can build resilient economies that provide dignified livelihoods and drive long-term social prosperity.
