UiTM Pulau Pinang strengthens semiconductor expertise through train-the-trainer program in China

This article documents and analyzes the strategic participation of a lecturer delegation from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pulau Pinang in the Train-the-Trainer (TTT): IC Assembly and Advanced Packaging Program held in Shenzhen, China. Aligned with Malaysia's National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), this initiative aims to advance domestic technical expertise and talent development within the semiconductor sector. The success of this high-impact upskilling program is driven by three core components: (1) Direct Industrial Exposure through an extensive technical visit to WinTech Nano-Technology Service Pte Ltd, focusing on precision processes such as Electron Microscopy (SEM/TEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), failure analysis, and reliability testing; (2) Enrichment of Higher Technical Education by integrating global industry standards and emerging trends into university engineering curricula; and (3) Strengthening of Global Academic-Industry Linkages to establish professional channels for international knowledge exchange and research collaboration. This strategic engagement underscores UiTM's proactive role in bridging academic instruction with global cutting-edge technologies, directly contributing to the development of a highly skilled workforce essential for Malaysia's strategic vision as a regional semiconductor leader
