Abstract
This article documents and analyses the impact of the Engineering and Electronics Technology Workshop held at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Tasek Mutiara (SKBTM), Penang, on 9 December 2025. The programme was implemented under the Service Learning Malaysia–University for Society (SULAM) initiative and the Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) through a strategic “One UiTM” collaboration that combined the expertise of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam and UiTM Penang Branch, Permatang Pauh Campus. Involving 83 pupils from Years 4 to 6 and guided by 20 student volunteers, the workshop focused on nurturing young learners’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through practical exposure to real-world engineering applications. The programme’s key activities included interactive robotics technology modules and hands-on renewable energy kits based on solar technology. This experiential learning approach not only bridged the gap between textbook theory and industry practice but also successfully stimulated innovative thinking among school pupils while strengthening the soft skills and leadership capabilities of the student volunteers. The programme demonstrates the effectiveness of university-community engagement initiatives in promoting STEM education and fostering future-ready talent through collaborative knowledge-sharing activities.
