Abstract
This article presents a conceptual framework designed to investigate the complex interplay between supply chain risks, green supply chain management (GSCM) practices, and organizational performance within the Malaysian manufacturing sector. Anchored in the resource-based view (RBV) theory, the study conceptualizes supply chain risks—comprising manufacturing, logistic, information, supply, demand, and environmental dimensions—as critical disruptions that negatively impact organizational outcomes across both economic and environmental performance lines. To mitigate these vulnerabilities, this study introduces GSCM practices as a strategic mediating variable that can concurrently buffer risk impacts and drive sustainability goals. A research methodology is proposed utilizing a stratified sampling method targeted at ISO 14001 certified manufacturing companies in Malaysia, with structural equation modeling (SEM) designated for subsequent hypothesis verification and predictive testing. Ultimately, this framework serves as an essential strategic blueprint for sector practitioners aiming to safeguard operational continuity, elevate environmental indexes, and bolster macroeconomic contributions to national gross domestic product.
