Analysing the issue of cost overrun in Malaysian infrastructure projects: case study based on LRT3

Despite the heightened occurrence of cost overruns in infrastructure projects, there exists a need for up-to-date insights into the matter of cost overrun. Therefore, this research study aims to analyse the issue of cost overrun in Malaysian infrastructure projects based on LRT3. The objectives of this research are to identify the causes of cost overrun in Malaysian infrastructure projects based on LRT3 and develop strategies to overcome cost overrun in Malaysian infrastructure projects based on LRT3. Thus, a comprehensive literature review has been undertaken in accordance with the specified objectives to attain them. Subsequently, this research intends to employ a qualitative method to identify the factors contributing to cost overruns and the strategies to overcome cost overruns in Malaysian infrastructure projects based on LRT3, with the targeted respondents being consultants involved in the project. Through a thorough exploration of the issue of cost overrun in Malaysian infrastructure projects based on LRT3, this study seeks not only to address the set aim and objectives but also to enrich and expand upon the existing knowledge base. Furthermore, by delving into the intricacies of the causes contributing to cost overruns, this study intends to offer a nuanced understanding that can contribute to the refinement of strategies in mitigating cost overruns in future infrastructure endeavours.
