Abstract

Information and knowledge have played a role in societal development today. The impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on the operation of libraries and information services has also resulted in the conversion of libraries from traditional to digital versions. Although the library's structure may change, its purpose stays unchanged, which is to be a significant center of cultural heritage, education, enlightenment, and human networking. A library's initial objective was to preserve society's information, but it subsequently evolved into a service agency that began to serve society with its resources. In the twenty-first century, libraries have evolved into brand-new, fascinating spaces with a greater focus than ever on employing IT, cooperating in the creation of collections through consortiums, and operating as educational centers (Missingham, 2006). of Information and The application Communication Technology (ICT) has also resulted in significant developments in the Library Information Science (LIS) industry, particularly in the distribution of information services, and has had a considerable impact on users' information-seeking behaviors. It has transformed the way people access, retrieve, and transmit information. The impact is not restricted only to information availability and accessibility, but the consequences can also be seen in library services. Information science experts and librarians are driven to obtain specialized skills due to the wide range of digital products and services (Tîrziman, 2017). It has changed the structure of documents by digitizing books and magazines and storing them in digital archives. Library operational functions such as circulation control, acquisition, and cataloguing have been computerized to increase efficiency. OPACS (Online Public Access Catalogues) have enhanced systems for information retrieval by enabling users to access library databases virtually everywhere (Kumar, 2016). Users now have more ways to access libraries and information resources.
