Abstract
Sime Darby was established in 1910 by business partner named William Sime, a traveler and adventurer from Scotland and Henry Darby, an English banker as show in figure 1. Sime Darby grow up become Malaysian largest trading conglomerate. Its core businesses operate in and serve the industrial, motors and logistics sectors as well as the health-care, insurance, and retail segments. Moreover, the company has the workforce of over 100000 employees over 20 countries. Tan Sri Dato' Mohd Bakke Salleh is CEO at Sime Darby Berhad since 27 November 2010. Sime Darby Plantation is the world's largest palm oil plantation company by planted area. The company produce approximately 2.48 million tonnes or four per cent of the world's crude palm oil (CPO) output annually, of which about 98% or 2.43 million tonnes are Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO). Our current Upstream operations, which consist predominantly of oil palm cultivation, harvesting and milling are spread across more than 630,000 hectares of planted areas in Malaysia, Indonesia, Liberia, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Our land bank currently stands at approximately 1 million hectares across these five countries.
