Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI), which originated as a formal research field in 1956, has evolved from narrow experimental software into sophisticated generative systems such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google DeepMind's Gemini—capable of fundamentally transforming the landscape of higher education. This article analyzes the dual nature of AI integration in universities, balancing its transformative benefits against its profound ethical challenges. On one hand, AI enhances the academic ecosystem through automated administrative efficiency, rapid feedback mechanisms, and adaptive learning platforms that tailor educational content to individual student needs. On the other hand, it disrupts established conventions surrounding authorship, academic integrity, intellectual labor, and institutional equity. This paper explores these critical dimensions and proposes a comprehensive, balanced framework that encourages technological innovation while strictly upholding ethical standards and epistemic integrity within the academic field.
