From the earliest stages of human interaction, translation has been an integral practice. During the Malacca Sultanate (1402 - 1511), one of the bueies trading hubs between East and West, the port attracted ships from across the world, with as many as 84 languages reportedly in use (Pires, 1944). In such as multilingual environment, translation was virtually indispensable.
