Abstract

International students' social adaptation is a crucial aspect of their overall study abroad experience. When entering a new cultural environment, students are often confronted with challenges in terms of physical, social, cultural, and emotional adjustment. Social interaction, particularly with the host community, has been widely recognised as a vital pathway to easing this process of integration. By examining the daily sociability of Chinese international students in Malaysia, this study sheds light on their preferred patterns of interaction, as well as the underlying psychological and cultural mechanisms that shape these choices.
