Report on industrial training at Farm Unit, UiTM Sabah branch

In March 1973, ITM Sabah Branch was established with the cooperation and support from the Sabah Foundation and State Government. The temporary campus was in Sembulan and the first intake was in July of that year comprised of 159 students. On 17 August of the same year, the campus was officially opened by the Chief Minister of Sabah. Then in January 1982, large majorities of the students' population were transferred to the permanent campus at Kuala Menggatal after the completion of its hostel blocks and other facilities. The move was completed in 1991 and now the university is known as UiTM Cawangan Sabah. Diploma in Planting Industry Management (DPIM) programme offered by the Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology (previous under the faculty of Applied Science) was introduced in UiTM Cawangan Sabah on December 1999 of SPM levers and UiTM's Pre-Science qualifier. Farm unit has been responsible for the general maintenance, also help in providing the tools and facilities for the DPIM students. lri the middle of the year 2003, the first staff intake has been committed where the position for the mechanical technician and General Assistant (GA) staffs has been taken to assist the lecturers in providing practical needs of students and keep the farm area in good condition. In 2006, recruitment for the new staff of Assistant Manager, Assistant Agriculture Officer and some additional GA staffs to work in the general maintenance of the farm.
