Abstract
FELDA began developing land in mid-1979 based on the approval of the State Government through the State Government Gazette of Sabah No. 148 and 223. As of 2000, FELDA has opened a land of 124,389 hectares, of which 98% are plantation areas, especially palm oil and 2% are plots and towns. The excess of the area cannot be developed by the FELDA due to the suitability of the area as well as recaptures by the Sabah State Government.
