Implementation of web-based electronic maternity record

The purpose of this research is to design and developed a Web-based Electronic Maternity Records (eMaternity). This system is able to insert, update and delete the patient’s information, visits, treatments and appointments. The system also help the patients, doctors and other medical practitioners to exchange the information as it can be access anytime and anywhere. Five Planes of User Experience is used as a guideline in designing and developing the system. Waterfall Model which consists of analysis, design, implementation, testing and documentation phases is chosen as the methodology for this study. User Experience Test (UXT) was conducted with 7 participants in a healthcare unit of a university and feedbacks and suggestions from the participants were taken consideration and refinement of the system is made based on these comments. The result form UXT clearly indicate that the system is attractive, has good perspicuity, efficient, dependable and have a great value. As the conclusion, eMaternity has been successfully designed and developed to assist medical practitioners in managing and handling patient’s record efficiently and effectively. Most of the participants are in the opinion that this system is useful and would recommend this application to their colleagues and friends. For the future works, this system also could be develop as a mobile app as this could benefit the users and encourage more people to use this system. In addition, it could be improved by integrating other modules or functions such as integration with user’s email. By integrating the system with email, it will help the user to get notification about their future appointment for check-up.
