Abstract

This study utilizes a convenience sampling of 130 hikers at Gunung Datuk to investigate the motivational factors, participation frequency, and gender differences driving outdoor recreation in Malaysia. By employing a structured Likert-scale questionnaire, the research analyzes the relationship between psychological drivers and hiking frequency to inform better recreational planning. The findings aim to support targeted strategies for promoting healthier, active lifestyles through a deeper understanding of hiker behavior in natural settings.
