Report on industrial training at Merotai Estate, Sime Darby Plantation Tawau, Sabah

Industrial training is a superlative runaway for under graduated student that widely practices in Malaysia including for Universiti Teknologi Mara under the the courses of Diploma in Planting Industry Management. Nowadays in Malaysia and other countries, labor market has become more competitive in seeking for the job especially for the fresh graduated people. They need to compete with the people that have lots of working experience even though they not have any certificate from any public and private university or agency, but that make things different between those who gain knowledge without experience and those who gain knowledge and have experience. So, with industrial training it really help most of student and fresh graduates to increase their working performance if their in the nature of work later through the excellent soft skill, good experience and brilliant in knowledge. In FPA 310 (Industrial Training II) student who's taking Diploma In Planting Industry Management they are required to choose the agency that they want, as for them to undergo of industrial training within 5 weeks. During this period, student will be evaluated with the respective preceptors on the attributes that listed on the survey form that provided by the Industrial Training Coordinator. Usually, student will be evaluated based on they skills, their knowledge, working performance, punctuality and others. Basically, the major purpose of industrial training is to exposure the student with real working environment and activities that before this they only being taught by theoretical knowledge in the class. But, with this industrial training, they have chance to see and do various kind of activities by their own self so that they can explore more about that sector and improve their soft skill that will give them benefits in the future. As for us, we went to one of estate under the company of Sime Darby Plantation which is Merotai Estate to undergo our industrial training. We have choose Merotai Estate to undergo of the industrial training because of the several reason and one of it is because we want to learn and see how was their manage their field with various method, how their manage their workers and others and during our industrial training we have chance to learn about it.
