The comparative study on the field performance of MD2 pineapple propagated from conventional sucker

Agricultural Research Centre Semongok (ARC Semongok) is one of the agencies that are under the Department of Agriculture Sarawak (DOA). It was located at km21, Jalan Puncak Borneo, 93250 Kuching, Sarawak. The research division is led by Senior Assistant Director of Agriculture (Research) Mr. Lau Cheng Yuon. He reports directly to the Director of Agncuture who, in turn, is responsible to the Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Sarawak. This research centre was divided into several branches namely, Production Technology, Technology Generation and Transfer, Agro-Biotechnology and etc. As for fruit section, the main objective of the fruit research programme is to develop appropriate production technologies and packages suitable for adoption by fruit growers and entrepreneurs in Sarawak. It covers both indigenous and commercial fruit crops. The farmer focuses on priority fruits such as dabai, durian kuning and nyekak, isau and embawang. The latter emphasizes on selected fruit such as honey mandarin, papaya, pomelo, anak sekolah rambutan, rock melon, nangka and guava. It is conducted at ARC Semongok, Kabuloh station and at private commercial orchards. The involvement of private orchards in this activity has been stepped up in order to facilitate better and direct transfer of technology.
