Abstract
Fire threatens all buildings and its effect can be disastrous not only to human being but also in economic term especially to the heritage museums. The loss of property that forms a part of cultural resource which is irreplaceable where architectural and historical integrity can be vanished easily when there is unsuitable fire protection. Some of the problems identified in this research were lack of fire safety management and the structure of the museums were too old to resist fire. The suitable and sensitively applied of fire safety management should be considered as part of strategic plan in long term preservation of any heritage museums. The aim of this research is to investigate the current practice and provide recommendation on best level of fire safety management in heritage museum, George Town, Pulau Pinang. Pulau Pinang play an important role as they are significant to architectural value and have become the heritage sites. The objectives are a) to identify the current practice of fire safety management in heritage museums, b) to analyses the most current fire safety management implementation in heritage museums, George Town, Penang and c) to suggest in improving the best level of fire safety management in heritage museums. The data were collected by observations, literature review and interview methods at the chosen heritage museums.
