Abstract

This quantitative study investigates the influence of mental toughness on athletic achievement and gender-based differences among 214 Malaysian high school athletes using a total population sampling method. By employing the Mental Toughness Questionnaire (MTQ48) and the Achievement Goal Questionnaire (AGQ), the research utilizes linear regression to analyze how psychological resilience determines performance outcomes in a demographic facing rising mental health challenges. The findings aim to address a critical gap in adolescent sports psychology, providing a clearer understanding of how mental strength distinguishes elite junior performers.
