Abstract
This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluate the short- and long-term effectiveness of AI-enabled chatbots for treating anxiety and depression. By synthesizing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) searched through January 2025 across major clinical databases, the study assesses treatment duration, risk of bias, and evidence certainty across diverse populations. Unlike previous research, this analysis uniquely integrates both immediate and follow-up outcomes to provide a comprehensive evaluation of chatbot-led psychotherapy.
