Abstract
This study compares the physical fitness profiles of 22 Muay Thai and Silat Olahraga athletes from UiTM Seremban to identify distinct physiological adaptations necessitated by their specific sport-specific movement patterns. By assessing body composition, muscular endurance (sit-ups), strength (1RM deadlift), and power (vertical jump), the research evaluates how Muay Thai’s emphasis on continuous striking and clinching contrasts with the strategic agility and explosive bursts characteristic of Silat. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, and regression analysis to identify significant intergroup differences and performance relationships. The findings aim to assist coaches and sport scientists in tailoring training programs to the unique tactical and physical demands of these two popular Malaysian combat sports.
