Abstract
This study investigates the evolving, multifaceted role of the goalkeeper in modern football, focusing on distribution and build-up play under pressure during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Utilizing a systematic observational approach, 41 goalkeepers were analyzed across 64 matches using Nacsport video analysis software to evaluate technical and tactical behaviors. The research employed a structured coding scheme with high inter-rater reliability (above 0.80) to assess the direction and success rate of distributions. Descriptive statistics and Mann-Whitney U tests were applied to compare performance trends and identify significant differences in distribution efficiency between winning and losing teams, addressing a gap in performance analysis that traditionally overlooks offensive contributions.
