Abstract
The road construction is important in the industry such as construct a new road or maintain the road in order to avoid any unnecessary accident from occur. To make sure that the construction when smoothly, contractor need to apply Traffic Management Plan into the project. Traffic Management Plan is a guideline that provided for the use of traffic devices that will notifies and guide the road user passing the work zone with the sufficient safety to the site worker. However, if contractor do not apply it, the accident rate will be increase. The aim of this research is to provide the outline of traffic management plan in road construction to improve and minimize the accident in road construction site. Objectives of the research are to identify the causes of accident that commonly occur during road construction site, to determine the implementation of traffic management plan in road construction and to recommend the improvement of traffic management plan to minimize road accident during road construction. In order to achieve this objective, a quantitative method of research is used and questionnaire as the tools for data collection. The sampling method used for this research is purposive sampling and there were 148 number of G7 Contractor in Pulau Pinang as the sample frame and the questionnaire were distributed to all 148 G7 Contractor in Pulau Pinang.
