Abstract

This study evaluates the commercial viability of introducing Second-Generation Cordless Telephone (CT-2) services, focusing on consumer willingness to pay for spot coverage and outgoing-only call capabilities. The research identifies three primary target segments: business users requiring on-site mobility (including medical professionals, brokers, and site agents), mobile professionals currently utilizing pager services (such as engineers and lawyers), and residential customers. By analyzing demand trends and market data from the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia, the study provides a strategic framework for implementation. The findings serve as a guideline for determining the feasibility of CT-2 technology in a competitive telecommunications landscape, highlighting its potential role as a bridge between traditional fixed-line services and full-scale cellular mobility.
