Abstract

This report reflects my internship experience at TERAJU Bumiputera Corporation, a government-linked entity under the Prime Minister’s Department, which plays a crucial role in empowering the Bumiputera community economically in Malaysia. I was assigned to the Financial Services Department for a six-month period, from 3 March 2025 to 2 September 2025. The main goal of this internship was to give me hands-on exposure to real-world work settings, while also enhancing my practical understanding of finance-related operations, building on the theoretical knowledge I gained during my Finance studies at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). TERAJU’s main mission is to increase the involvement of the Bumiputera community in key economic sectors through funding initiatives, strategic partnerships, and capacity-building programs. During my six-month internship, I took on various finance-related tasks, including processing payment claims, managing petty cash reimbursements, inputting transactions into the ERP system, assisting with audit preparations, and organizing document filing and digitalization. These tasks provided me with practical experience in financial operations within a public sector setting. The report is divided into several main sections. It starts with an update of my personal resume profile, followed by an overview of TERAJU’s organizational background, strategic goals, and departmental structure. The core of the report focuses on the weekly tasks I undertook, what I learned, the challenges I faced, and the contributions I made throughout the internship. I also included a SWOT analysis, supported by observations and reliable sources, to evaluate both the organization and my experience as an intern, along with key recommendations. Overall, this internship has greatly enhanced my understanding of financial processes within a government-linked organization, helped me develop both technical and soft skills, and exposed me to a dynamic and purpose-driven work environment. This experience has provided a solid foundation for my future career in the financial services sector.
