Abstract
This research investigates the integration of Chinese traditional elements and innovative compositional techniques in the vocalising pianist works of contemporary Chinese composer Gao Ping. The study aims to explore how cultural heritage, Chinese musical aesthetics, and artistic innovation intersect in Gao's compositions, with a focus on how the vocalising pianist genre serves as a site of creative synthesis and expressive experimentation. Adopting a qualitative case study approach, the methodology is grounded in the close analysis of musical scores, enhanced by contextual insights drawn from literature review, performance observations, and interviews with the experts. This triangulated approach facilitates an integrated examination of the works' compositional techniques, aesthetic connotations, genre innovations.
