Stepping into the corporate finance world for the first time, I started my internship at Merces Corporate Services Sdn. Bhd. on March 3, 2025, with determination, curiosity, and a desire to grow. As a finance student from UiTM Bandaraya Melaka, I was assigned to the Accounting and Tax Department, where I undertook responsibilities that included taking up work on clients’ files, performing financial document preparation, creating tax relief listings, and assisting with account and tax computations for sole proprietorships using AutoCount and SPC Tax systems. I also faced the real pressure of peak tax season in July, working extended hours to help the firm meet tight deadlines and avoid client penalties. Melaka-based Merces offers accounting, tax, and company registration services to clients across Malaysia, with a particular focus on serving doctors. This report provides details about my company and student profiles, explains all aspects of my daily tasks, and reflects on the applied knowledge I learned throughout the 24-week internship. 1 conduct a SWOT analysis based on PESTEL factors, followed by a discussion and recommendations to enhance the company’s online presence and client engagement. Overall, the internship provided an improvement in my technical and interpersonal skills and prepared me to step into the finance industry and offer a personalized and customized consultancy service in today’s business world.
