Aspiring scholar - Professor Dr. Nuraisyah Cua Abdullah

Since her conversion to Islam in 1994, Professor Dr. Nuraisyah Chua has high intention on spreading the beauty of Islam to others. With the principle "everyone can do dakwah" she has her own ways in propagating Islam. To her, dakwah by example is the easiest way of dakwah and the work of dakwah is not only the work of people who has deep knowledge of Islamic principles but is the duty of all Muslims. In her early years at the faculty, she wrote her life story of her conversion to Islam in Kisah Saya Saudara Baru and since then, her story has been an inspiration to many new converts and Muslims. She also produced a compilation of Islamic English poems which illustrates the beauty of Islam and the sweetness of being a Muslim. Since she started her service as a lecturer at the faculty in 2000, she has been invited to give talks about Islam in universities, mosques, Islamic associations, workshops, seminars and conferences. She also appears in newspapers and in talk shows in dakwah television programmes. Her passion in conversion issues has motivated her to focus on legal issues concerning conversion to Islam with special reference to the one spouse in a marriage who has converted to Islam. She has written a book on this aspect and she was consulted on the issue of the amendment of section 51 of the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976. She was given the award of "Tokoh Pendakawah Etnik Cina" at the Konvensyen Dakwah Kebangsaan on 22 December 2019. The best way of dakwah is to be the best in whatever one does and that will be an inspiration for many. The inspiration is the one that attracts others to Islam. Nuraisyah herself has produced more than 15 law books and hopes that it would attract the interest of people to Islam by the sharing of knowledge and professionalism in the legal profession.
