Overbuying emerged as a noteworthy factor for a significant 26.7%, emphasizing the necessity for a shift in purchasing behaviours. A substantial 20% attributed food waste to cooking excessive amounts, signaling a potential area for improvement in meal planning strategies. The acknowledgement by 43.3% of respondents that they don't use leftovers suggests a need for educational initiatives promoting resourceful meaL management. Furthermore, a concerning 53.3% expressed unawareness of expiration dates, underscoring the importance of education on food Labelling and storage practices. Only 6.7% provided additional reasons, implying that individual circumstances or routines might also contribute to food waste.
