Abstract
This paper investigates on the thermal performance of a two-phase switched reluctance motor (SR motor) with stator phase asymmetry by using 3-D finite element (FE) methods. The 3-D FE analysis provide a time-sequence of temperature profile for the motor. The final equilibrium condition gives the maximum temperature rise of the motor operating at rated condition. Results are found to be accordance to the initial criteria
