Abstract
This research is about the performance of workmanship for conservation projects in heritage buildings. This research be focused on the contractors and clients because the parties who need to make the conservation work. Consultants also contribute to these issues because they need to inspect the work either follow the specification or not. Therefore, the aim of this research is to investigate about the workmanship’s performance in conservation of heritage buildings projects in Malacca, UNESCO World Heritage Site. The objective of this research is to determine the workmanship’s performance in conservation of heritage building projects in Malacca, to identify the challenges affecting workmanship’s performance in conservation of heritage building projects in Malacca and to propose the solution to enhance the workmanship’s performance in conservation of heritage building projects in Malacca. The methodology for conducting this study is using qualitative method which is by doing a semi-structured interview among the Contractors and Clients related with conservation project in Malacca, Malaysia. At the end of this research, the factors affected the performance of workmanship for conservation projects in heritage buildings can be known and get a solution to solve these problems to increase the performance of workmanship.
