Abstract
Objectives : This study was conducted to compared the usage of antibiotic in four main ward in HUSM which is Surgery, Medical, Oncology and Orthopedic ward from January to April 2007. Secondary objectives for this study were to determine the highest usage of antibiotic for each of four main ward.
Methodology : A retrospective and single centre study was conducted during the period of January to April 2007. Data are collected from patients Cumulative Medication Chart (CMC) from January to April 2007 that containing antibiotic. 1918 patients are involved in this study. 489 patients are from Orthopedic ward, 245 patients from Oncology ward, 512 patients from Surgery ward and 672 patients from Medical ward.
Result: In all types of ward it shows that cephalosporins antibiotic are high in use among all types of antibiotic.
Conclusion : There is no significance difference usage of antibiotic in one another for four these type of ward.
