The level of understanding of zakat on gold: a study on UiTM Machang Campus / Zeti Nur Ain Mohd Zamri

This paper aims to assess the Level of Understanding of Zakat on gold among staff at UiTM Machang Campus. Despite being among educated groups, the understanding zakat on gold remains inconsistent. Thus, this issue is relevant towards the staff members’ at Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Kelantan (UiTMCK), Machang Campus, where the understanding of the basic of Zakat on gold is in question. Hence, the level of understanding of Zakat on gold was evaluated, to demonstrate how it relates to attitudes, knowledge, and religiosity. In this study, quantitative research method was used to select participants from a population of 133 staff members, regardless of their position or rank at UiTM Machang. A sample size of 100 respondents was selected to attain the data. The data were collected through questionnaires and analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The analysis involved frequency analysis, reliability analysis, regression analysis, and Pearson correlation analysis. The findings reveal that knowledge does not significantly influence understanding, suggesting the need for practical tools to bridge the gap. In contrast, religiosity and attitudes significantly impact understanding, highlighting the role of spiritual values and personal perspectives. These findings emphasize the need for better education and awareness programs to improve the practice of Zakat on gold among the staff at UiTM Machang.
