Abstract

Diabetic patients should have adequate information regarding their disease and their prescribed medications, since the disease are one of the most chronic diseases that attacked people in Malaysia. As a very aware and responsible person towards his health, one should be rational in getting to know as much as possible about the disease and the management of his health together with the healthcare provider in order to achieve high goal of the treatment. In Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah however, there are still a number of diabetic patients that are consider to be less-aware about most of the significant matters they have to take care of, either the medications they have to take or the disease and the way of controlling it. To increase or improve awareness level of diabetic patients is the aim as the objectives are to investigate the awareness level of patients and also to identify factors that causing this group of patients to be less aware. Study is conducted by using the “primary data sources” which can be obtained by conducting face-to-face interviews with the adult diabetic patients consuming oral hypoglycaemic agents (OHA) for their treatment in the specialist clinics, and the out-patient pharmacy of Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah.
