Factors influencing landscape satisfaction among residents towards home garden landscape in Puchong Selangor / Nur Afiqah Norman

Home garden refers to growing a small part of land that may be near the house or within working area from the household. The tradition is basically to use that small part of land to grow or produce some important agricultural products to meet the food needs of the family. Landscape satisfaction towards home garden landscape is important to preserve a home garden ownership. This study was conducted to find out the factors influencing landscape satisfaction towards home garden landscape as there is insufficient number of studies regarding the subject. This study also focused on residents who owns a home garden and particularly lives in residential area in Puchong, Selangor as the respondents. Quantitative data through survey questionnaire was collected among them. Snowball sampling technique was used as the sampling technique. For the data analysis, SPSS software was used to conduct frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis. The result of the research study found out that the plant diversity was significant to the relationship of the landscape satisfaction the most as the p-value of plant diversity was 0.000 and it is followed by the environmental awareness factor with p-value 0.011. It can be concluded that there were other external factors such as relative garden size and neighbourhood likability that influence the landscape satisfaction towards home garden landscape in Puchong, Selangor. This study contributes information to the organizations, residents and researchers in order to overcome problems relating to home garden such as poor satisfaction and lack of home garden ownership among the residents.
