Abstract

The aim of this paper is to study the aspect of transformation process applied, the aspect of selecting form’s layout, production approach and the determining factor in selecting the characteristics of work design in production operation. Result showed that two types of transformation system popularly practiced among the respondents from rubber, oil palm and timber sectors are intermittent flow processes and continuous flow processes. In selecting layout, the main objective of layout planning is to achieve efficient production line besides fast and safe material handling. The three main factors influencing firm’s layout are material, man power and movement factors.
