The awareness on maintenance approach on historical building / Sarina Abdullah

This study was carried out to describe the awareness on maintenance approach on historical buildings in Malacca. This study focused on maintenance which it is part of conservation process in order to prolong the historical building’s life and maintain its significance such as historical value, architecture value and economy for future generation. The study is aimed to create and increase level of awareness to general public and the society including the owner of properties and parties involved directly or indirectly in conservation works. The objectives are to identify the importance of maintenance approach towards historical building, to determine the current level of awareness on historic building conservation and to determine the effectiveness of maintenance approach conducted. Several methods have been used, interview session and observation, in order to achieve the objectives of the study. The interview is conducted among the respective persons from case study, parties involved and Perbadanan Muzium Melaka (PERZIM). The result from the observation shows that the historical buildings are well being care and well maintained which reflected the current level of awareness of maintenance approach among the related parties.
