Abstract

In trying to redress the racial imbalance, it will be necessary to concentrate your efforts to the Malays, to bring out more Malays entrepreneurs and to bring out and to make Malays millionaires, so that the number of Malays who are rich are equals to the number of Chinese who are rich " Based on the above statement by our Prime Minister, Dato" Seri Dr. Mahathir bin Mohammad, it is important for the Malays ton increase their efforts in order to compete actively with other races in Malaysian economics. Hence this study is carried out to provide a basic view on Bumiputera" investment and equity participation in manufacturing sector in Malaysia. The study is done by analysing the trend of Bumiputera in vestment in manufacturing sector for the period of 1984 to 1993. The effects of inflation rate is measured in order to identify its relation to Bumiputera investment in manufacturing sector. Method of analysis will employ a Multiple Regression Model in order ascertain whether there is a positive relationship between Bumiputera investment and total investment in manufacturing sector for the period of analysis. The trend is also related to Government intervention as it is the main issues contributing to the trend of Bumiputera investment in manufacturing sector in Malaysia.
