Abstract

Due to the large number of HIV patients, we take this opportunity to undertake research on the Mandatory Pre-Marital HIV Testing Amongst the Muslims and its possible socio- legal implications as our BLS project paper and as part of the ongoing efforts to curb the spread of HIV in Malaysia. Since this Mandatory Test was started since 2001 in Johor, it has now been made mandatory in all states in Malaysia requiring all Muslims to undertake this Test before they can proceed with their impending marriage. This test is to ensure that prior notification will be given to the infected person
as a precaution to avoid spreading of the HIV disease to their partner or children. This research mainly discusses the history of the HIV Pre Marital Test in Malaysia it comes to our country, the related laws, the possible implications of the HIV
Test on Muslims after they undertake the test and also to compare the implementation of the HIV Test with other countries. Appropriate recommendations to enhance and improve the testing system are also included. Due to the many constraints that we face, we hope that all information provided are accurate and complete to accomplish this project.
